Todd Boehly has hinted that Mason Mount could be handed a new Chelsea contract after the Blues owner liked a tweet about the midfielder extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old is currently under contract until 2024 but could be set to sign a new deal with Boehly keen to tie him down after Armando Broja and Reece James put pen to paper on a fresh contract. The new ownership at the club has made it clear that sorting the futures of Cobham's own James and Mount is among their priorities and they are halfway to achieving that goal with the right-back signing his extension.
Now, they will be looking to sort out Mount, and according to a report talks have already been held with his representatives with the hope of finding an agreement. There have also been preliminary talks over a contract extension for goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Fabrizio Romano tweeted back in June: "Next Chelsea player to discuss new deal will be Mason Mount. Talks are already in place since long time and he’s waiting for the club to send new, final proposal. Negotiations will continue soon."
And now Boehly has decided to like the tweet - a hint that Mount could be expected to be sign a new contract. Mount has made 166 appearances for the Blues, scoring 30 goals and providing 31 assists.
Back in June, Mount also indicated that he wanted to pen a new contract, with the England international already winning the Champions League during his time at the club.
Speaking to The Athletic, he said: "I’ve got two years left on my contract and I’m very, very happy here. Those [contract] talks will hopefully be starting soon."

The England international was part of the 23-man travelling party and the Chelsea boss was understandably pleased at the news as the Blues defender signs a new deal.
"He's a very decisive player for us," Tuchel told the Chelsea website. "He is an Academy player and I've said many times how important he is.
"His development is far from over. There is a lot to learn for him and a lot to come but of course we're happy to have a key player with us for so many years."
James said: "I am over the moon with my new contract and I’m thankful for the fans, the new ownership and everyone involved in the club. I cannot wait to see what the future holds, and I am sure we will have the chance of winning many trophies.
"I grew up supporting this club and I’ve been here since I was a six-year-old. I put pen to paper on a new deal because this is the club I want to be at. I’d like to say a special thanks to the fans, I am here to stay and we have a bright future ahead of us."
