Barcelona suffer quadruple injury blow over international break

Barcelona have suffered a mammoth four injuries in the most recent set of international fixtures, with the club confirming the severity of two of them.

All of Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong, Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo have picked up knocks playing for their countries, and it is the defensive duo that appear to have suffered the most.

“Tests on Saturday morning have confirmed that Jules Kounde has a biceps femoris injury in his left hamstring. As a result he is unavailable for selection until he recovers, an official statement read.

Test were also conducted on Ronald Araujo and he has an avulsion fracture of the adductor longus tendon in his right thigh. He too is going to be out of action until the injury heals”, they add.

There are suggestions that Kounde, who suffered his injury in the first half of Les Blues clash with Austria, could be out for as long as a month with his injury, which will come as a major blow both to the Frenchman and the Catalan giants.

Meanwhile, Araujo, injured after just five minutes against Iran, could also be sidelined for 2-3 weeks, leaving Xavi short at the back. At present, Andreas Christensen, Gerard Pique and Eric Garcia are the only options for the Spaniard to call upon.

And the news gets worse on the injury front for the Camp Nou side, with both Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong limping out of action for the Netherlands in their 2-0 win over Poland.

De Jong was taken off at half time, but is thought to not have suffered too serious an injury, perhaps seeing him back for the game on 1st October against Mallorca.

However, Depay, taken off 10 minutes later, could be sidelined for a while more. The Dutchman is thought to have picked up a hamstring injury which could rule him out for up to a month, with these injuries leaving Barcelona short up and down the pitch.

I want to thank the coaches and technical staff who help me to improve every day.” Benzema has won the men’s award for the first time after leading Real Madrid to the Spanish title and their 14th European Cup.
